The Mission

The chat interface is a dead end. When we imagine the future of AI, we picture typing into a box and waiting for a response—but that's a skeuomorph from the era of command lines and search engines. It's not how humans will actually collaborate with intelligence at scale. You will invent what comes next. Consider the challenge: A senior engineer at a Fortune 500 company needs to supervise 50 AI agents simultaneously refactoring a legacy codebase. Each agent is making decisions, encountering edge cases, and requesting approvals. The engineer needs to understand what's happening across all of them, intervene when necessary, and trust the system enough to let it run autonomously when appropriate. No existing design pattern solves this. Dashboards are too slow. Chat is too serial. Notifications are overwhelming. The interface you design needs to be something new—a "Mission Control" for intelligence that gives humans superpowers without drowning them in information. This isn't about making things pretty. It's about making non-deterministic systems legible. It's about building trust between humans and AI through transparency and control. It's about defining the interaction paradigms that will shape how the world works with autonomous agents for the next decade. If you've ever looked at a complex system and thought "there has to be a better way to understand this"—we need you.

Responsibilities

  • Define the foundational UX patterns for human-agent collaboration: how do you supervise, guide, and intervene with autonomous systems?
  • Design 'High-Bandwidth' interfaces that visualize agent reasoning paths, decision trees, and confidence levels in ways humans can quickly parse.
  • Create interaction patterns for 'Human-in-the-Loop' approvals that are frictionless for routine decisions but rigorous for high-stakes ones.
  • Prototype novel IDE extensions that integrate agent capabilities directly into developer workflows in VS Code, JetBrains, and other environments.
  • Design the information architecture for dashboards showing fleet-level agent activity: what's working, what's stuck, what needs attention.
  • Develop a comprehensive design system that scales across our platform: from enterprise dashboards to developer CLIs to mobile monitoring apps.
  • Conduct user research with Forward Deployed Engineers and their clients to understand real-world friction points and workflow breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and performant—you'll need to understand streaming, real-time updates, and system constraints.
  • Create high-fidelity prototypes that function well enough to test with real users and demonstrate to enterprise clients.
  • Establish design principles and documentation that allow the team to make consistent decisions as we scale.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating complex system design: developer tools, data visualization, dashboards, or technical products.
  • Exceptional information design skills: you can take overwhelming complexity and make it comprehensible without dumbing it down.
  • Ability to prototype with code: proficiency in React, Framer, or similar tools that let you build functional prototypes, not just mockups.
  • Deep curiosity about how LLMs and AI systems work—you don't need to be an ML engineer, but you should understand capabilities and limitations.
  • Experience designing for power users: you know that 'simple' doesn't mean 'dumbed down' and that density can be a feature.
  • Strong systems thinking: you can map out complex workflows, identify leverage points, and design for edge cases.
  • Track record of shipping: you've taken products from concept to production and iterated based on real user feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills: you can articulate design rationale to engineers, executives, and users with equal clarity.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: we're inventing new patterns, which means you'll often be designing without established best practices to reference.
  • Remote-compatible work style: you're self-directed, communicate proactively, and thrive without in-person oversight.
